1/4/09 I sent 4 emails to Gheel CEO Peter Byrne to see if Gheel Autism Services can help my son, I emailed him Dr Shah's report and immediate recommendation, a Doctors medical report, a Consultant Psychiatrist Dom McDwyer letter about my son and his letter to Nua Health Care, a facility specifically for people with Aspergers Syndrome. More of that debacle later. 6/4/09 I had a 2 hour meeting with Gheel Autism Services in Fairview. I get told my son needs to be on the Dublin database to be able to get funding. I have not a clue as to why and no one explained it either. The only thing that sticks out in my mind as it scared me was Andy McDonnell Consultant Psychologist telling me twice that they have had to go to the High Court and remove a child from their family to give them the correct help. I informed him I had already found Nua Health Care in County Kildare and had been fighting to get funding to help my son change his life and he had been offered a place in that facility. I was told by Gheel to “leave it with us” I find out that Carol Doolan is the Disability Manager in Dublin North HSE for my area. She tells me my first point of contact is R, a Social Worker to help me get linked in with other services. I decided I am not going thru all that crap again, same old, same old, they give you the run around till you collapse with stress then they hope you shut up. I ring Martin at Gheel and tell him, there is no way I am going backwards yet again with the HSE in a new area, he says he will speak to Peter and get back to me. Peter Byrne of Gheel Autism Services calls me, he tells me we do not need any Social Work as my son has a full diagnosis so "all that is needed is he is on the Dublin HSE database, nothing else and he will get it done" He says he "knows Carol Doolan and he will give her a call" Peter Byrne Gheel Autism Services calls me again at 6pm asking what I would be happy with in the letter to the HSE, I say at first I do not know then say I suppose just Dr Shah's report and recommendation. I rang Martin at Gheel, I told him I need my file back as it contains all my originals and ask him what has happened to the meeting I am supposed to have from them to teach me to help my son as they promised they would do and I have heard nothing about it. No reply from him. Peter Byrne later rang me to say he will be at my house in half an hour with my file and he will be in a mini bus. He came into the house and I had to ask him to lower his voice as he is awful loud and my son is directly above us in his bedroom and will go nuts and will want to know who is in the house and why. Peter leaves telling me he is still waiting to hear back from Carol Doolan the Disability Manager. My son is now on 3 x 1mg of Xanax per day, he took two at the same time and was as high as a kite. I told him from now on I will give him one at a time as he cannot be trusted with them, he is not happy about this at all, he tells me if he “is not in charge of them I'll not fucking take any” I said that is your choice he told me to “fuck off and die” I tell him to change the bloody record and grow up.
